Device Research Pathway - Fillauer AllPro with Direct Mount Pyramid.

  • We, Andy and Yuan Xu, used Google to do a search for companies of prosthetic legs using terms such as:
    • "Prosthetic legs companies" and,
    • "Leading companies of prosthetic legs".
  • After comparing the prosthetic legs of each company, we decided to do research on the category of sports prosthetics on the Ottobock webpage.
  • We came across the Runner, model 1E91, on the Ottobock site.
  • We decided to use the 1E91 Sports Prosthetic as our subject for device research.
  • We looked up brochures and instruction manuals on Google for the product by searching “1E91 Ottobock”.
  • After reading and collecting the information on the functions and features of the product, we wrote a brief summary of the collected information. We inserted it into ChatGPT to refine the vocabulary and grammar of the summary.
  • After doing more research, such as price and functionality comparison, through ChatGPT, I decided to change my focus on Device Research to a product I found that's way more versatile and affordable/cheaper than Ottobock's 1E91 The Runner, which is Fillauer's AllPro with Direct Mount Pyramid.
  • By using the Google search engine, I searched "Fillauer" for the Fillauer's website to read up on the functions and features of Fillauer's AllPro with Direct Mount Pyramid.
  • I wrote a summary draft for the Device Research, with contents mentioning the functions and features of the AllPro with Direct Mount Pyramid.
  • After completing my summary draft, I wrote a thesis about the prices of prosthetics being justifiable and also on why the Fillauer's AllPro with Direct Mount Pyramid is a much better product compared to the Ottobock's 1E91 The Runner in terms of functionality, features, and pricing.
  • After consulting with Professor Brad for feedback on my device research draft's summary and thesis, he said that the citations in the draft should be reformatted following the Columbia College APA Citation Guide (7th edition).
